Stats matter at all levels of play.

Whether you’re coaching 11s or college, statistics are a key part of building a winning team.

Why are stats so important?

Because your “eyes lie”. You tend to pay more attention to dramatic actions and miss the mundane actions. Plus, you can’t tell the difference between a 1.50 passer and a 1.75 passer just by watching.

Stats provide an unbiased score for your players, just a like a test grade in school. Instead of Megan is passing well, Megan has improved from 1.60 to 1.75 and has reduced her error rate by 5% to 14%.

Focus on the stats that matter.

You only need to track a few key stats for each level of play. Keep it as simple as serve and receive error %. Expand as skills improve to include the quality of the serve and receive. Then add kill rates.

We’ve done extensive analysis of over 20,000 teams from college to U11 and have over 1,000,000 sets of data. Learn more about skills that correlate to winning and losing

Serve-Receive Error % is a simple but powerful stat that determines your team's level of play.

Reception skill determines whether you can control your opponent’s serve and score points. It’s considered the most difficult skill to master. Even if you hit well, you can’t win consistently without good serve-receive. Calculate it by counting the number of receive errors (balls that aren’t returned to your opponent) and dividing it by the total number of serves received.

Choose your level.
